Writing a book? You've come to the right place.
This service is for authors who are satisfied with the content of their books; it does not evaluate the book content like my developmental editing package does.
Copyediting includes checking punctuation, spelling (including proper nouns used in the book), grammar, and usage. You could also see sentences reworked to remove passive voice when that’s appropriate or transitions smoothed out. It can also include double-checking continuity or wrangling references.
Preserving your voice, especially in fiction, is important. My goal is to make sure that any style conventions you use seem deliberate and consistent and not like errors, preserving everything that makes your voice unique. Each editing project is a little bit different in terms of what is needed, and you'll get the full benefit of my extensive experience in how I apply rule and style.
Tracked changes allow you to see exactly what I’m suggesting. My instructional videos can show you how to take the overwhelm out of using tracked changes. When I copyedit, I use The Chicago Manual of Style, the industry standard, to inform my copyediting decisions. For publishers, I use your brief and your style guides to create the edit you desire.
I work on book-length projects in Microsoft Word:
The prices for copyediting depend on the length of the book, when you'd like the edit completed, and what needs to be done. Your copyediting quote begins with a free sample so you can see what a copyedit looks like for your project.
If I cannot edit your book, I have an extensive network of other editors and can connect you with editors who work in your genre.
